Sangklaburi Safe House Mission Projects

The Sangklaburi Safe House is located in central Thailand in Choung Loo / Huai Malai 400 kilometres northwest from Bangkok. The Safe House is a community health residential facility and treatment clinic for displaced and stateless people who have health issues such as HIV/AIDS, Mental Health and terminal illnesses. Since the Safe House opened, over 1600 people have been able to return to an independent life.

Project One:  Motor Bike with side car and canopy

Funds required:  ~$2,600

motorbike1 Sangklaburi Safe House Mission ProjectsAt present the only way for the patients (adult and elderly) to get to the hospital for any form of treatment is on the back of a motor bike or the back of a push bike.  In cases of emergencies or where patients have mobility problems the Safe House tries to borrow a car from a local person.  In an emergency situation this is less than adequate as the time between incident and treatment is extended greatly.

The proposed motor bike with side car and canopy would provide transport for both the elderly and adult patients to medical appointments and to other activities i.e. assisting the staff with shopping for the Safe House and other activities that promote wellness, independence and training.  This particular make of side care accommodates wheel chairs which is essential for some of the patients.

With this new form of transport it would also mean that the Safe House would be able to purchase more goods hence having more purchasing power.  At present the only way to purchase food for over 50 patients is on one single motor bike which belongs to an individual not the Safe House.
